  Changes to postal vote regulations

You may have recently been sent a letter by Stevenage Borough Council letting you know that, with immediate effect, all those who apply for a postal vote ballot must now include a specimen of their signature and their date of birth in the application.

You may have already replied to the Council’s letter. However, if you have not yet answered their letter, could I urge you to do so as soon as possible? If you have mislaid the Council’s letter, do not worry, they will be sending out a second, and final, reminder in a few weeks time.

But, please remember, if you do not reply to either of the Council’s letters, your existing postal vote will be cancelled although, if at any time in the future you want to vote by post, you can re-apply. However, you will still have to supply the Council with a specimen signature and your date of birth.

If you have any questions about this change in the law, which is designed to protect your vote, please do not hesitate to contact us.
